Wedding Wednesday

Virginia + Michael
AT&T Conference Center

Virginia and Michael could make a hard-hearted skeptic believe in love.  Together, this couple is pure light – both have open minds and generous hearts.  They are crazy in love and have the kind of unpretentious cool that is a rare find. To commemorate the start of their lives together and serve as their engagement photo session — they got symbiotic custom branch tattoos inspired by an e.e. cummings poem.  Needless to say, their branch tattoos plus an eclectic mix of traditions and a bohemian color palette filled with accents of copper, peacock blue, canary yellow and hot pink served as the inspiration for their one-of-a-kind, romantic and super sexy wedding day.

The ceremony and reception took place at AT&T’s Conference Center on the first day of the New Year.  The ceremony was warm and intimate.  Guests’ seats were arranged in a horseshoe pattern with a candle-filled altar in the center.  “Lucky” bamboo graced the altar in homage to Buddhism and was the first of many good luck symbols to appear throughout the evening.  Virginia looked amazing as she floated down the aisle to an acoustic version of “Here Comes The Sun.”

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed small bites and tasted the couple’s signature “Trailer” cocktail, a fabulous concoction of top shelf silver tequila mixed with ruby red grapefruit juice, a splash of sparkling water and a squeeze of fresh lime juice! A video guest book enticed guests to record personalized video messages to the couple.  Then the ballroom doors opened and guests found their seats among glittery, copper-colored blooming branches named after meaningful places for the bride and groom.

Place cards were hand-made fabric flowers (“capias” a Puerto Rican wedding tradition that were hand-made by the bride’s amazingly talented sister!) that guests were encouraged to keep and wear – and wear ,they did!  Next came a delicious meal filled with lucky foods and talismans from around the world.  The first course was lucky Southern black-eyed peas, the second course was a salad topped with 12 lucky grapes (a Spanish custom) and on the entrée, an actual lucky Buddha graced each guest’s plate.  A colorful tower of cupcakes gave guests an assortment of fun-filled New Year’s Day resolutions to choose from such as: resolve to laugh out loud, resolve to kiss my partner and resolve to dance in public, among others.  After dinner, a Frangelico cart circulated among the crowd and specialty lighting faded from amber to hot pink.  Virginia and Michael performed a super sexy tango for their first dance.  Hot dance moves and higher hemlines followed as the bride switched into a second short dress to dance the night away.  As the first day of the year came to a close, the couple made their exit under a shower of streamers and confetti.

Virginia and Michael, we can’t think of a better way to have started out our year than surrounded by all your love and good luck!  It was a perfect day! We absolutely adore you and wish you much happiness together.

Cheers to Virginia and Michael! Tanya + Jamie
