Erin + Seth
Barton Creek Resort
I have been an Austin-ite for nearly nine years, but I instantly feel a connection when I meet New Yorkers, since that’s where I’m from. That’s what happened with Erin and Seth when I met them back in 2008. There was a great chemistry between us from day one – which made for a really fun wedding planning process!
The other thing I loved about working with Erin and Seth was they came in with fresh, open minds. They knew what they liked and didn’t like. Our design process was a blast – exploring loads of ideas, colors and themes! We ultimately decided on a theme of shabby-chic elegance at Barton Creek Resort + Spa.
Our design came together smoothly and flawlessly. The color scheme was white, ivory and blush pink. But it was important that the look wasn’t perceived as overly feminine. The stationery gave the guests an instant “first look” at what this wedding would be all about. The modern pattern perfectly represented the overall look and feel of the wedding. If invitations could speak, this one would say, “Come to my wedding. It will be modern, chic, elegant . . . with a big splash of fun!”
The Jewish ceremony was held in the Barton Creek Pavilion and was so romantic, you couldn’t help but get chills when you saw it! The ceiling of the Pavilion was draped in ivory fabric, which made the guests feel warm and welcome as they entered. And you couldn’t help but stare at the stunning crystal chandeliers – two small ones hanging from the ceiling on either side of the chuppah and one giant stunner smack in the middle of the Pavilion. Breathtaking! The chuppah was draped in ivory fabric and was adorned with Pave roses across the top and tiny peeks of crystals hanging down for a hint of sparkle.
Erin wanted the reception design to be elegant, but still have a wow factor. So a plain ivory linen? Oh no! We searched high and low for the perfect linen, but alas, it did not exist. So what did we do? Custom linens, of course! We found the most beautiful tone-on-tone ivory damask fabric. But this was not your grandmother’s damask. This was a fresh and modern damask pattern that – under the blush pink hue from the lights, and complemented by floral centerpieces in shades of pinks and white – looked modern and elegant. Shabby chic to a “T!”
The tall ceilings were draped with ivory fabric to provide more of an inviting and warm feel. And the glow of the soft pink lighting was stunning on the ivory fabric. The cake had ivory buttercream icing, which was accented with a beautiful petal pink damask-like pattern. It was a major focal point in the ballroom.
So we’ve covered the modern, chic and elegant elements, but let’s not forget about the FUN! The guests were blown away by the talent and diversity of the band. How do I know this? The dance floor was packed until the very last note was played. The guests also enjoyed a photo booth, which served as Erin and Seth’s sign in book.
As I write this entry, I get chills and teary-eyed. I am so glad to have had this experience with Erin and Seth. I know I’ll remember this for a long time to come.
With fond memories,
Denise
