Courtney + Burk
The Driskill
We started planning with Courtney and her mother Meg a year out and had a great time every step of the way!!! Courtney and Burk were such an easy going couple. They just wanted to have a great party for their guests and beautiful décor to represent their great taste!
The ceremony was held in The Driskill ballroom and was intimate and stunning. Tons of candlelight and an aisle full of petals were the perfect touches to the already glowing room. A friend of the couple not only sang the song that Courtney walked down the aisle to – she wrote it!!! Talk about an entrance. And Courtney was a vision in her breathtaking Vera Wang gown – it was ethereal! And Burk wasn’t too shabby in his tails. A classic look that was perfect in The Driskill’s formal setting.
Guests then headed to the mezzanine for the reception. We chose a look that accented the glorious architecture of The Driskill. Bronze jade taffeta linens on the guest tables and espresso pintuck taffeta on the head table, gold chivari chairs all around and bronze jade chair ties on the head table chairs – it was the perfect look for The Driskill! Beautiful centerpieces of ivory floral adorned all the tables, and we added a modern flair by incorporating succulents. Tables were named after different cattle brands, and the head table had Courtney and Burk’s “custom brand.” Guests had a great time matching their escort card to the table name!
The food was sublime, and had a Texas flair with green chili mac and cheese, grits and grilled tenderloin station and jalepeno biscuits! Delicious fare for every appetite. Then for dessert, some amazing cakes. Courtney’s cake was a custom design from several cakes she loved – the final product turned out JUST like our sketch. THANK YOU, DRISKILL! And Burk’s cake was a hit, it was a craps table – complete with poker chips, it was remarkable.
The band started, AND OH MY, did the dancing begin! When Courtney and Burk said they had a party crowd, they weren’t kidding. Everyone was there to celebrate and they stayed on the dance floor until the very end. You will notice the “Caution: Wet Floor” sign . . . drinking + outrageous dance moves = spilled drinks and broken glass! CLINK was ready for it, and we kept all of those bare feet glass-free. This was a true sign of a great time.
Guests then headed out and sent Courtney and Burk off in a cloud of white petals. Their exit was short lived, as they came right back for the after party at the Driskill bar.
Meg, thank you for all of your help and for being such a pleasure to work with. Courtney & Burk, we wish you the best and hope you make your way back to Texas soon. Y’all are the sweetest couple and the love and respect you have for each other is divine. You make each other laugh, smile and really complete the picture of the perfectly happy couple. We had a blast throughout the entire process, and the wedding was everything and more!!!
Love,
N’Yoka and Gina
