Image Wedding Wednesday

Blair + Andrew

Barton Creek Resort and Spa

I remember the day I got the call from Dee Dee that Blair and Andrew were engaged! I was getting off a plane from a wedding in St. Thomas with Jenn Lindberg (photographer extraordinaire) and we both had the message that we would be working on the second Massey wedding!!! We had both worked together the year before on Morgan’s wedding and had the best time getting to know the entire Massey clan.

The ceremony was held in the Pavilion of Barton Creek Resort and we brought in draping and chandeliers to create an elegant and breathtaking ambiance. The most important aspect of the ceremony was for it to feel as church-like as possible, so we brought in Gordon Smith (who also officiated Morgan’s wedding) to perform the religious union. A cross backdrop was adorned with roses in shades of ivories, peach and pale yellow and was complimented by two modern arrangements that completed the look perfectly. Music was a huge priority so we brought in a string quartet, trumpeter, pianist and soloist. A chill-inducing rendition of Ave Maria was sung and truly made this one of the most spiritual ceremonies I have ever witnessed.

The remarkable cocktail hour included an ice sculpture that served double duty as a jaw-dropping centerpiece and raw bar display. The pianist played throughout cocktail hour so there was never a lull in phenomenal entertainment. We used a textured coral linen to bring in some modern flair and topped the tables with aubergene centerpieces.

The ballroom doors opened and WOW!!!!!!! The ballroom was transformed into a couture playland of modern floral, linens and lighting. From the cake table that had four linens layered to make it just right – to the chair ties on the head table that were tied in a rosette style to compliment Blair’s dress. IT. WAS. TREMENDOUS. Purple smoke bengaline linens adorned all the guest tables and was the perfection combination of modern and elegant. The head table had a dark lavender satin as the base, platinum crush for the middle layer and purple smoke bengaline on top. Centerpieces were all different shapes and sizes of purple and coral floral housed in mercury glass containers.

After enjoying a ridiculously delicious coursed dinner, guests danced the night away! The band was awesome and was more than willing to let Blair, Andrew and other members of the wedding party up on stage to get the crowd going. Then a little surprise was in store for all of their guests – SUPER FROG made a special guest appearance. We had some pretty happy horn frogs J Blair and Andrew both graduated from TCU and we had a couple of other touches – their custom Luccheses and the groom’s cake!

Blair’s to-die-for gown served as inspiration for the custom designed wedding cake. Melissa Sweet herself couldn’t have designed those sugar flowers better!!! And the delicate wisps of feathers blew ever so gently all night. As an added personal touch Dee Dee found a crystal bee, which we place on the cake. Everyone calls Blair “B” so it was a great feature.

Andrew’s Louisiana heritage inspired our late night snack – beignets!!! Complete with the bags flown in from Café Du Monde in New Orleans – YUM! Guests were beside themselves with all of the fun surprises they had in store. And then the final surprise of the night, the horn section led the entire wedding out to “When the Saints Go Marching In.” FUN! Blair made a quick change into a beaded Marchesa dress and then she and Andrew were COVERED in a blanket of fluterfetti as they made their way to an antique convertible Bentley.

Blair, your style is one-of-a-kind and fabulous!!! It was an honor designing a wedding for someone with such phenomenal taste. Andrew, you are the only groom who has ever sent a hand written thank you note to me; that speaks volumes of your character and I am so glad you are now part of the Massey family. Steve, your entire family is just as beautiful on the inside as the outside. These last couple of years working with you all has been beautiful and inspiring. Dee Dee, words can’t express the love I have for you. You are what I aspire to be – poised, graceful and elegant…and always with a smile on your face. Patrick will have the best rehearsal dinner ever!!!! I am forever a Massey fan, and I am so glad you are all in my life.

All my love,
