Image Wedding Wednesday

Andrea + Richard

The Driskill

We met Andrea three weeks prior to her Driskill wedding while setting for a gorgeous event on the Driskill Mezzanine. She was super excited about her upcoming nuptials and pretty nervous since none of the planning had been executed besides booking the amazing venue. We said, “Three weeks? No problem!”

We then got to know the couple and their love story. Andrea, a registered nurse, met Richard, a neurosurgeon, on the job. A group of fellow nurses thought the two would be a perfect fit, and they couldn’t have been more right! They are both laid back, relaxed and the chemistry they have is electrifying.

The one wedding “must-have” was to make sure all of the guests felt included and had a part in the big day. This included incorporating Andrea’s Native American heritage and the traditional wedding blessing of the culture, which was recited by her cousin during the ceremony in lieu of a reading. A friend of the couple performed the music for the ceremony with acoustic guitar renditions of “Strawberry Fields Forever,” “Here Comes the Sun,“(for the sunshine in their lives – the flower girls), and “In My Life,” which Andrea processed to as the lyrics are the perfect sentiment of her love for Richard!

The party kicked off with a fabulous cocktail hour that featured “Jeanne Anne and Suzanne’s Brandy and Cigar Bar” named after Andrea and Richard’s mothers. This was set up on the balcony and was a huge hit with all of the guests!

After cocktail hour, guests made there way to their tables, which were not only named after different parts of the brain (in honor of Richard’s profession) – they were arranged according to the correct placement inside your head!

Every shade of purple from lilac to aubergene enhanced the elegant look and feel of the Mezzanine level. Tons of candlelight gave the room a warm glow. Picasso, eggplant and ivory lilies were incorporated along with the romantically lush hydrangea that adorned the cocktail tables in a beautiful shade of blue. Mirrored candleboxes gave the illusion that the votives on the head table went on forever and the overhead hanging candles brought the room together.

Andrea and Richard are foodies and their menu was to-die-for! White Bean Truffle Ravioli with Butter Poached Shrimp in a Creamy Mascarpone Sauce to start followed by a duet of Petite Filet Mignon and Sesame Crusted Mahi Mahi accompanied with Creamy Parmesan Risotto, wilted Shallots and Spinach! Then the highlight of the night, a surprise groom’s cake for Richard in the shape of a brain! Seriously, SO COOL!!! We even had a scalpel for the cake cutting!

The band was even part of the family! Joe King Corasco had every one thoroughly entertained the entire night as he played his heart out. Another familial touch was that Andrea wanted her mom to get to do something special, since the father of the bride usually gets all of the limelight. So in lieu of a traditional bouquet toss she dedicated the bouquet to her mother and toasted to her, Jeanne Anne was surprised and touched and everyone ahhhh’d. These are the moments that become memories.

The couple then exited in a sea of confetti in to their horse drawn carriage – a perfect ending to their conventional storybook romance!

Andrea and Richard – thank you so much for trusting us with your day! We know the planning was fast and furious but it was a GORGEOUS and glorious day and a beautiful representation of the love you share!
