Maheshi + Nishan
The Four Seasons
We fell in love with Maheshi and Nishan at our first meeting! They are down to earth and relaxed and made our jobs enjoyable and fun! Plus we got to produce not one, but two ceremonies!!! They included us every step of the way, which was great because we learned a lot! Maheshi’s family taught us about the Sri Lankan culture and Buddhist ceremony, and we learned about the Hindu ceremony from Nishan’s side. It was a beautiful and spiritual journey that ended in a flawless Austin wedding day as they became husband and wife!
The Buddhist ceremony took place on the pristine lawn of the Four Seasons. Maheshi’s family brought in the traditional stage, which was surrounded by Sri Lankan décor and hanging white floral garlands. The couple had to be on the stage at the Buddhist ceremony at EXACTLY 4:36pm. Not 4:35, or 4:37! (No pressure!) One of our favorite details was when a traditional Buddhist drummer and dancer danced down the aisle leading in the bridal processional.
After a brief refreshment break (and a costume change) we began the Hindu ceremony inside the ballroom. The Mandap was ornate and drop-dead gorgeous! The beauty of that room simply cannot be put into words. All of the elements were executed with precision and it had everyone in awe.
Cocktail hour was held in the foyer in front of the ballroom and the sapphire bengaline linens looked as if they were custom made for the space! Tropical arrangements surrounded by peacock feathers topped the tables and a display of Sri Lankan treats was available for all of the guests to enjoy.
Then, the big reveal! The reception doors opened to a splendor of color. WOW was the most common reaction. Alternating guest tables in sunset dupioni silk and red crinkled taffeta gave the room a fresh and bold look. Towering arrangements of tropical leaves and smaller arrangements of tropical floral made the look exotic and transported you to a far away island.
The Four Seasons Hotel outdid itself with the superb Indian cuisine! Spinach dahl, and curried lamb and chicken had the guests raving all night. And the custom designed cake was the center of the attention when placed upon the mandap (if you are going to flip a room – do it right). This was one of the most colorful cakes we have ever designed and it couldn’t have fit better into the space if we made it ourselves.
The dance floor was packed all night and the crowd was thoroughly entertained. Then, another big surprise – the bride’s favorite treat, Popeye’s fried chicken, was given out as favors!!!
Mayeshi and Nishan, thank you for including us in your amazing event – it was beautiful, spiritual and a living work of art. Your family is extraordinary and Baby Jai rocks!!! Best of luck to you in Dallas and don’t be strangers!
Love,
N’Yoka and Gina
