Things we CLINK to

Wine Makes CLINK Happy

If you are ever in the Fredericksburg area and are a wine enthusiast, you must stop in at House Wine.  On Main Street, House Wine is not an overpriced antique shop, like majority of its neighbors.  It has fabulous finds from vintage to Texas to modern that occupy the front part of its store. And in the back, is a small wine bar that has the best selection of wine in the Austin area. Seriously!

We wandered in one Saturday afternoon, and were lucky enough to visit with the owner, Todd, and the manager, Vicky.  They don’t have a wine list – which they explain to everyone that walks in. You see a bottle on the wall that you like, bring it to the bar and you can have just one glass of it or the entire bottle. ANY bottle! Even the $45 per glass bottles!  This is a practice I have never witnessed and I loved them even more for it!!! The bottles are housed in repurposed wine racks from Moet Chandon. They are gorgeous and have quite a history….and I am coveting one in a MAJOR way!

Its selection was diverse and heavenly. Todd knows the majority of wine makers in Napa on a first name business, so I was getting as much inside information from him as possible. He talked to us about the difference between old world and new world wines, while passing no judgment. Vicky was a doll and gave us all her favorite suggestions and what made each one different.

House Wine is a rare gem that you must try! Great style, inviting atmosphere and wine in every price range that is the best of the best!

CLINKing to House Wine!
