The DRESS!!!

Recently engaged, and looking for the perfect place to find your wedding gown? Keep it local and see the best Austin has to offer! We chatted up local bridal salons to get the scoop on every detail you need to know – before you walk in the door!

Blush Bridal Lounge

A quaint boutique nestled in central Austin – Blush wins points for being simply adorable! Inside, you are met with not only gorgeous gowns, but chandeliers, wallpaper and girly details that make your inner princess swoon.

Amanda, Blush’s manager, recommended that you make your appointment at least a week in advance, six to eight months out from your wedding day. In preparation of your first consultation, make sure to look at the designers on their website, get a sense for gowns you love, but always keep an open-mind! Amanda recommends that you wear your hair and make-up similar to what you envision yourself to look like on your wedding day. No need to bring heels to the first meeting, they have a pedestal to perch upon to complete the look. Blush’s price point ranges from $700-$3,000, and they carry popular lines such as Anaiss, San Patrick, Tara Keely, and Romona Keveza!

When making an appointment with Unbridaled, try to call at least 1-2 weeks in advance because their Saturdays fill up fast! Try to make your first appointment at least six to nine months in advance. Alexia Gavela

A charming abode in Central Austin that beckons you in with its immaculate window displays – a must for any bride, from Cinderella to Bella. Geri, Alexia Gavela’s owner, knows women and gowns. He wants to know where you are getting married and all about your style, he knows how to make you feel beautiful every minute of your appointment.

For the first consultation, Geri recommends the bride wear soft make-up in neutral tones that highlight her natural beauty. He also suggests wearing the hair in soft curls so that it leaves options open to play around with different styles. The boutique has a pedestal for the bride to use when trying on gowns so no need to have the perfect heels by your first appointment! Geri also advises to look online to get a direction of what you are looking for, for example different shapes or fabrics that catch your eye. Also, he suggests having a budget in mind for the entire look, including the veil, shoes and jewelry. This helps you not fall in love with a gown that costs more than your entire wedding budget!

Schedule your appointments with them as soon as you can, but they will always try to accommodate anyone who stops in. For the first time meeting, eight months prior to your wedding day is great – and leaves room for alterations and portraits. Alexia Gavela’s price point ranges from $300-$3,000, with average gowns hitting around $1,400. They carry gowns from favorites Bari Jay, Casablanca Couture, La Sposa by Pronovias, and St. Pucchi! Alexia Gavela can also create custom gowns, which is perfect for the bride who falls in love with a designer frock that is triple her budget or the bride that is inspired by several looks!

CLOSED Tuesdays

CLINKbit: They have seen an increase in brides looking for unique necklines like organic straps or a keyhole back. Fit and Flare style is also being requested often because it has a flattering shape while still leaving room for the bride to dance!

Go forth and get your shop on! It’s never too early to start looking for “the one.” And some CLINK advice – don’t wait until you drop that 10 pounds, dresses can be altered and time is of the essence. And always order the size you are, do not order two sizes too small. Again – alterations are a bride’s best friend!
