It’s All in the Details

Garden to Table in the Garden

In the Fall issue of Austin Monthly Home magazine, you will see CLINK’s take on a fabulous garden party – that is 100% Austin!  This shoot had details at every turn and we all had an amazing evening in the garden.

First up – location should be your number one consideration when hosting any event. We chose Springdale Farm, because it had enough space and its gardens were in full bloom! It was the perfect backdrop for a fall shoot (which was shot in the middle of summer!). When evaluating sites, look at capacity of the space in terms of your event and the style/layout you are considering. Are you having a band? Do they require a stage? What size? What type of food service are you having? All of these questions will help you determine the true capacity of a space. Also check to see if their kitchen facilities will meet your needs. Bring your caterer to view the space. We often bring in ovens, grills and racks to make sure all guests are served on time. Restrooms are another consideration. You should have one facility per every 50 guests, and be sure to include vendors in your count.

Next up – the tablescape! When designing your centerpieces – look around your garden for inspiration! Merveille created our look, and they used everything from tomatoes to wild sunflowers. Artichoke blooms are gorgeous and add tons of texture. And you can never have enough herbs (sage, rosemary, lavender, etc). Just fill your favorite containers with your fresh picks!

We used the Good Life long wood tables and benches from Premiere Party Central. These looked as if they belonged in the garden. Elegant chargers, china and crystal off-set the “rustic” look and added a touch of drama!

Candles, tons of candles! When hosting an event outside, you cannot have enough candlelight. They add ambiance enough glow so that people can see what they are eating. Group votives in threes and fives for an impactful look.

Last but not least – the menu!!!! PT&H Catering created a menu that proved eating local is not only great for Mother Earth, but delicious as well!  From the pork belly and smoked heirloom tomato salad, to the chicken breasts stuffed with spinach, fontina cheese and peppers…each bite was perfection! For dessert they created Blackberry Bread Pudding that was better than anything that comes out of a New Orleans kitchen, I kid you not. Check out Austin Monthly Home for all the recipes!!

And the finishing touch – the guest favor. Guests will notice that you have gone that extra mile when there is a little token of your appreciation that is theirs to keep! You can never go wrong with gifts of chocolate. Delysia created beautiful fall-themed chocolates for our guests that tasted as amazing as they looked.
