Happy Wedding!

Melissa + Chris
Barton Creek Resort and Spa

Melissa and Chris met in college – they were both accounting majors at UT, and are now both CPAs at the same firm.  They have a passion for great wine, and Chris creatively and romantically embraced this by arranging a picnic and private barrel tasting at Grape Creek Vineyard near Fredericksburg as the perfect place to propose!

In lieu of a traditional guest book, the couple asked guests to sign wine bottle corks they had been collecting from bottles of wine that have been shared over the years.

Despite the grand feel of the Barton Creek Pavilion, the actual ceremony had an intimate vibe. We draped the ceiling and brought in chandeliers and added a rose covered aisle –perfectly elegant touches to warm up the space. Melissa and Chris wed on a fabric-covered riser, complete with floating crystals in the backdrop – which gave a refined look to the natural landscape.

Avid foodies, Melissa and Chris wanted to treat their guests to a meal worthy of any fine restaurant. Dinner began with passed hors d’oeuvres including Beef Carpaccio crostini with Roquefort Aioli and candied walnuts, and baked sundried tomato lump crab tartlets. A Spinach and strawberry feta cheese salad with citrus champagne dressing was a refreshing way to cleanse the palate and get ready for the main course, a duet of Beef tenderloin and Sea Bass with port wine demi glace, yellow tomato buerre blanc, roasted truffle fingerling potatoes, and seasonal vegetables. And then came the dessert! The Wedding Cake was a white truffle chocolate torte with white chocolate mousse filling, but the show-stopper was the chocolate truffle and red velvet-flavored UT tower Groom’s Cake, a surprise from the bride to the groom.

Their group was full of dancers. Melissa & Chris opened the dance floor with their First Dance –“Marry Me” by Train – and after that the band kept the dance floor packed all night. We’ve never seen a dance floor that full that early! Great job, Blind Date!

Décor was a top priority for the wedding – Melissa envisioned draping, chandeliers, and amazing lighting. They wanted a formal look, while at the same time ensuring their guests were able to kick back and have a good time. Tables were decked out with silver marquis damask linens, a tonal pattern that was the picture of modern-elegance. The silver chavari chairs had a silver shantung chair treatment and crystal chair clip.  Napkins in nile blue added Melissa’s favorite shade in a gorgeous and tasteful way! Four different centerpieces were designed – all with lush ivory romantic flowers and candles – that had small crystal embellishments.

Melissa & Chris – thank you for letting us take your story and your personalities and run with it! It is so much fun for us to have so much creative freedom with a couple who is so laid back and fun! You were absolutely delightful to work with, and we wish you both years and years of great wine and dancing!
